PREPARATION OF MANUSCRIPTS

Authors should consult a current issue of the journal and eJournal website before submitting a paper. Manuscripts should be submitted in English, in electronic format (soft copy), in Word Document or equivalent word processing software, doublespaced and with ample margins and emailed to editor@psychiatry-malaysia.org. The manuscripts should be set out as follow: (1) Title page, (2) Abstract, (3) Text, (4) Acknowledgment, (5) References, (6) Tables, (7) Illustrations. Begin each section on a new page and number the pages consecutively.

Authors
All authors of an article must sign a consent letter requesting the submitted manuscript to be published by the eJournal website. (download)

Title Page
The title should carry (a) a succint and informative title (b) the author’s name with highest academic degrees © the name of the institution to which the work should be attributed (d) the complete mailing address, telephone number and email address of the corresponding author. All persons designated as authors should qualify for authorship and be able to take public responsibility for their work.

Abstract
The abstract should mention the purpose of the current study, the important findings in the paper and the principal conclusions. This should not exceed 150 words and list up to 5 keywords under which the article should be indexed.

Text
The text should consist of Introduction, Material and Methods, Result and Discussion. List and number the references by the order of their appearance in the text.

Acknowledgments
State here contributions that need acknowledging. Acknowledgments may not exceed four type lines.

References
Only relevant references cited in the text should be listed. These should be kept to the minimum and numbered consecutively in the order of their appearances in the text in accordance with the Vancouver system. Accuracy of the citation is the author’s responsibility. Abbreviations of journal names should conform to those used in Index Medicus. For manuscripts that have been accepted but not yet published, indicate the abbreviated title of the journal followed by (in press).

1. Journal Article.
List all authors when 5 or less. When more than 5 list only the first five and add et al.

Tables
All tables and figures should be submitted in electronic format (soft copies) as Adobe Illustrator EPS or MS Excel and/or inserted into the Word document. They must be numbered with Arabic numericals and have appropriate headings.

Illustrations
All illustrations must be submitted in electronic format (soft copies) as Adobe Illustrator EPS or JPEG. The name of the authors should be written at the bottom of the Illustration..

Abbreviations
Use only standard abbreviations. All measurements should be according to the S.I. Units (International System of Units).

PROOF
Whenever possible, proofs will be given to local authors for minor correction and major alterations to the text will not be accepted. The proofs must be returned to the Editor within seven days. Proofs of foreign articles will be corrected by the Editorial Board.
