This e-journal website is owned and operated by the Malaysian Psychiatric Association (MPA). By accessing or using the website, you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions below.

These Terms and Conditions expressly incorporate by reference and include the website’s Privacy Policy and any guidelines, rules or disclaimers that may be posted and updated on specific webpages or on notices that are sent to you. If you do not agree with these Terms and Conditions, please do not use this website.


MPA reserves the right to change, modify, add or remove portions of these Terms and Conditions in its sole discretion at any time and without prior notice. Copyrights and Limitations on Use

Submitting material for publication on the Website

Publication of any material you submit to MPA will be at our sole discretion. MPA reserves the right to remove your access to the website or any facilities and/or services on it if MPA believes that you are abusing these in any way.


You grant MPA a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide licence to republish any material you submit to MPA in any format, including without limitation print and electronic format.


You may not use the services on the website to publish or distribute any information (including software or other content) which is illegal, which violates or infringes upon the rights of any other person, which is defamatory, abusive, hateful, profane, pornographic, threatening or vulgar, which contains errors, viruses or other harmful components, or which is otherwise actionable at law. Systems Reliability

MPA aims to keep the website available twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week and to maintain saved information. However, due to technical failures, acts of God or routine maintenance, availability may be limited and/or information may be lost. MPA shall not be liable for lost information or non-availability of the services.
Indemnification

You hereby agree to indemnify, defend and hold MPA, its committee, members and affiliates harmless from and against any and all liability, losses, damages and costs, including, without limitation, reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your use of the website or Content.

Governing Law and Venue

These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia, without regard to its conflicts of law principles. You hereby submit to and agree that the sole jurisdiction and venue for any actions that may arise under or in relation to the subject matter hereof shall be the courts located in Malaysia.

MPA is committed to maintaining your confidence and trust with respect to the information we collect from you. This privacy policy sets forth what information we collect about you, how we use your information and the choices you have about how we use your information.
Collection and Registration of Personal Information

We request users who want to buy the journal and subscibers of the e-journal website to provide personal information. The information collected from a user is strictly voluntary and may include contact information such as the user's name, e-mail address, and postal address.
In order to access certain content and to make use of the full functionality and advanced personalization features of the website such as access to full text articles, we may ask you to register and obtain a personal User Name and Password. You may be prompted to register when you:
1. Choose the "Subscribe" link from the home page or login screens
2. Order a journal
The information collected from the registration form that is presented to users when they choose to register may include contact information, such as the user's name, e-mail address, postal address, job title, country, telephone number, profession, medical specialty and work setting ("Registration Information"). The Registration Information is linked directly to a personal User Name and Password chosen by the user and can only be retrieved by supplying the correct User Name and Password that is linked to that profile.

How Personal Information Is Used

We use the personal information that you provide for such purposes as:

  1. Completion and support of the activity for which the information was provided, such as allowing access to or delivery of our products or services, processing or fulfilling an order;
  2. Website and system administration, such as for the technical support of the website and its computer system, including processing computer account information, information used in the course of securing and maintaining the website, and verification of website activity by the website or its agents;
  3. Tailoring or customising content or design of the website during a single visit to the website and individualised personalisation of the sebsite on repeat visits;
  4. Research and development to enhance, evaluate and improve the website and our services;

Access to your personal information is restricted to MPA’s Editorial Board and service providers for the purposes set forth above. We will not otherwise disclose any personal information to any third parties.
Access and Changes to Your Registration Information and Preferences

Registered Users may access their identified contact information and other Registration Information and correct any discrepancies or update information by updating the relevant “Profile” directly in the website. The accuracy of such information is solely the responsibility of the user. No access is given to other data that may have been collected about users. We reserve the right to notify you of changes or updates to the website whenever necessary.
Third-party Advertisers

We contract with third-party advertisers that post on the website banner ads, which may link to other websites not under our control. These third-party advertisers may use cookie technology to measure the effectiveness of their ads or may otherwise collect personally identifiable information from you when you leave this website. We are not responsible or liable for any content, advertising, products or other materials offered from such advertisers.
